Free Cataract Surgery

Mobile eye clinics

The Foundation’s mobile eye clinics operate in Bali and South Kalimantan. These sophisticated mobile units take the cataract surgery to the people in their villages. Well-trained ophthalmic surgeons and nurses perform the surgery in a sterile environment, and the post-operative results achieved are excellent.

Hospital-based program

The Foundation also runs a cataract surgery program in East Lombok in the RSUD Dr R Soedjono hospital in Selong. The Foundation’s team screens and identifies the patients for surgery, and the hospital team performs the operations. The Foundation is planning to expand this program by introducing a mobile clinic which will reach more people in need of surgery.

Since June 1991, patients have received sight-restoring cataract operations
